Short version

By using max-ship.com you agree to these terms. Free products are MIT-licensed (use them how you want, just don't sue us). Paid engagements are governed by a separate written agreement. We don't promise any specific outcome from using our content or methodology — your results depend on your work.

The site itself

The site, blog, products, and resources at max-ship.com are provided "as is." We try hard to keep things accurate and updated, but we don't guarantee the site will always be available, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Use at your own discretion.

Free products (MIT license)

Anything labeled "Free" or "Open-source" on the Products page is published under the MIT License. You can use it commercially, fork it, modify it, and ship products on top of it. Standard MIT terms apply: no warranty, no liability for outcomes.

Paid products and lifetime licenses

Products marked "Lifetime license" or "Paid" are governed by the specific license terms stated at purchase. Generally: lifetime use for the purchaser, non-transferable, no redistribution unless otherwise stated. The exact terms ship with the purchase.

Paid engagements (Fractional CMO)

The Fractional CMO engagement (from $6,000 / month) is governed by a separate written contract signed at the time of engagement. The contract supersedes anything described on this site.

The Fractional CMO retainer is billed monthly in advance. A minimum initial term, notice period, and the specific scope of AI agent deployment (marketing performance, social content, lifecycle email/SMS, and martech ops) are defined in the engagement contract. Either party may terminate per the notice terms; fees paid for the current billing period are non-refundable.

Skool community

The MaxShip community on Skool is governed by Skool's terms + a community-specific code of conduct posted inside the community. Membership is monthly. Cancel any time inside Skool.

What we don't promise

  • We don't promise specific business outcomes from using our methodology, products, or content.
  • We don't promise revenue, growth, or traffic numbers. The HBOT Finder result (3,000+ pages) was ours; your results depend on your work, your business, your luck.
  • We don't provide legal, tax, or financial advice. Talk to a professional.
  • We don't take responsibility for what you do with our open-source code in production. MIT means you accept the risk.

Intellectual property

The non-MIT-licensed parts of the site (essays, lessons, images, branded names, design, copywriting) are © Max Palmer / MaxShip 2026, all rights reserved. You can quote short excerpts with attribution. Don't republish our essays on your own blog without permission. Don't pass off our content as your own.

The MaxShip name, logo, "Captain's Log," "Mental Systems," and the Captain's Flywheel framework are MaxShip trademarks. Use of these names in commercial contexts requires our written permission.

Acceptable use

Don't use the site or products for anything illegal. Don't try to break our infrastructure. Don't try to access password-gated content without paying for membership. Don't scrape the site at high volume — we explicitly welcome AI crawlers (see /llms), but if you're hammering the site, we may rate-limit you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes get announced via the Captain's Log newsletter. Last update date is at the top of this page.
