Strategic planning

The captain's slow-cadence job. Setting direction at quarterly + yearly cadence and validating that direction against real data via the Strategic cadence.

Definition

Strategic planning is the captain's slow-cadence job. It's where you decide *what your business is for* — not what shipped this week.

Most operators skip strategy because the daily ship-loop feels productive. Three weeks later they realize they've been running the wrong direction faster.

What separates MaxShip's take from generic OKR teaching: we couple objective-setting (the framework) with a reliable feedback ritual using real data (the Strategic cadence). One sets direction; the other validates whether reality is moving toward it. Both are required.

The framework lives in your Command Kit at `strategy/` — active objectives, quarterly rocks, annual themes, monthly review. The ritual lives at quarterly + yearly cadence. The compounding: this year's yearly retrospective becomes next year's strategy file. This year's review is next year's command.
